TRANSWORLD CONTINUES TO GROW We will be opening a new school in downtown Vancouver in January 2006 where we will be offering English language and CTESOL teacher training courses. Our expansion into Canada is exciting and we will be keeping you updated on this page.
NEW ACADEMIC DIRECTOR In July 2005, Phoebe Lyon was appointed as the Academic Director of ESL at English Transworld. Phoebe is a Transworld CTESOL graduate with a great deal of teaching and training experience in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and the USA, and has been a teacher training instructor on the CTESOL program for over a year. She will continue to teach some CTESOL courses while overseeing our ESL program.
ESL STUDENTS ON THE MOVE Congratulations to Jacqueline Westphalen (Brazil) on securing a JI visa for an internship position with Philips in New York; to Kensuke Yamada (Japan), Erika Carneiro (Brazil), Aleksandra Schpol (Ukraine) and Antonio Laperna (Italy) who will begin their studies at UC Berkeley this fall semester, and to all of our nurses from Korea who will begin work at hospitals in California and Nevada in September.
CTESOL JOB PLACEMENT UPDATE With Transworld CTESOL graduates teaching in over 60 countries, we have seen new locations in 2005 with job placements in Botswana, Cambodia, Iraq, the Maldives, Tunisia and Borneo to mention a few of the lesser traveled paths… We are also seeing higher salaries throughout China, and better teaching contracts for Korea. Japan continues to be very popular and, although Chile continues to be our strongest Latin American destination, the Argentine language school market is recovering with some teachers placed there this year. Western Europe remains strong with some 25% of our graduates seeking work in Spain, Italy and Germany (top locations), and our placements throughout the Middle East have steadily increased with the United Arab Emirates being the most sought after placement location in the region.
